The Korean Demilitarized Zone, or “DMZ,” has been mythologized by journalists, tourists and politicians as the “most dangerous” and “scariest place on earth.” In this video directed by Justin Martell, veteran YPT North Korea Tour Manager, and YPT.life co-founder, Rowan Beard travels from the North Korean capital Pyongyang to the South Korean border at the DMZ.
Along the way, Rowan, with the aid of North Korean guides, soldiers from the Korean People’s Army, as well as some archival materials, will explore the history of the creation of the DMZ at the end of the Korean War in 1953 and show us just what it’s like to visit the DMZ today.
